Perhaps your employer, as with these companies, is also working for you remotely and is weighing up your options, but have you reconsidered your willingness to work remotely?
At this point, I’m going to make an X-ray of the telework and 6 simple ways to assess your willingness to work remotely as an employee, but first
What is remote maintenance?
Willingness to work remotely can be described as the extent to which the organisation and its employees are prepared to work remotely, in whole or in part.
By contrast, the willingness of an employee to work at a distance is the degree to which an employee is prepared to work at a distance, in whole or in part. This can help the employer to determine whether a particular employee survives the distance. More importantly, it can help employees decide whether they can or should be terminated.
Remote maintenance readiness assessment
In order to determine staff’s willingness to work remotely, employers shall carry out a comprehensive assessment of staff’s willingness to work remotely, but employees can and should carry out such an assessment.
A reliable assessment of willingness to work remotely should cover the following main areas:
- Personal qualities and work ethic
- working from home
- Knowledge of domestic software/tools
They will provide you with sufficient information to assess your willingness to work remotely and inform you of your decision to work remotely.
Use the following checklist to make a custom readiness assessment for the remote control.

Remote maintenance checklist 1: Personal characteristics
Certain personality traits can help you with your work in remote locations. They are freelancers, which is why they have been working successfully as freelancers for years.
For example, most freelancers see themselves as introverts and can spend a lot of time alone, with virtually no external communication, supervisors or micromanagers.
Can you honestly spend your 9 to 5 years in your home office typing, answering phone calls, emails, etc.?
What do you do for a start or to solve problems? Can you take the initiative and solve problems without too much help or advice?
Are you as disciplined as you really are, can you specify your favourite Netflix TV or movie season? If you can’t, you’re probably not that ready for teleworking.
Checklist no. 2 for remote controls: Installation space
When setting up a new home office, you will need a separate room, preferably one with less noise and distractions. You can arrange one of your rooms, your terrace, your veranda, your balcony; any room that can contain your basic office supplies.
However, it is important to choose a place that is not a distraction so that you can do your job as well as possible, especially if you live in a family home or share a room with your housemates.
Do you have special rooms where you can place the necessary office equipment that does not distract attention, makes no noise or gives access to intruders or strangers? This is especially important if you work with sensitive information in your field.
Homeworking is a subset of teleworking. The first refers to work done specifically at home, while the second refers to work that can be done from any location other than the traditional office.
This means that you can always work outside your workplace, cafes, Starbucks, the park, etc., as long as you have access to the internet and some privacy.
Remote preparation Checklist #3: Office supplies
To work successfully in remote mode, you need to perform certain necessary tasks from your home office. So you can do your best work at home. It is important that the scattered teams are on the same side, otherwise the overall result will suffer.
Do you have a desk, an ergonomic chair, a work PC, a mouse, speakers, headphones, uninterrupted access to the internet, air conditioning (or cross ventilation), sufficient lighting, etc.?
Do you have all the tools and equipment you need to hold a zoom session or participate fully in it when needed? These are some of the key issues to be taken into account when assessing willingness to work remotely.
Depending on your position and tasks, you may need some or all of these office supplies and more. You should try to use the same or similar office supplies that you use in your office. This allows you to maintain your usual levels of efficiency and productivity, even when working from home.
Checklist no. 4 for remote controls: Introduction to Shift Software/Tools
Teleworking relies heavily on technology to achieve the best results. Companies such as Automattic are 100% removed from their founding site. More and more companies are considering and implementing different teleworking models in the future.
In order to be able to work remotely, you need certain software and tools that make your work easier. Again, this will depend on your position or function. Essentially, you need software to work with text, secure web browsers, collaboration tools, etc.

Most employers will require their employees to use certain software to verify that they are sitting at their desks and working in their workplaces. Most of this software is in the cloud, while other software needs to be installed locally.
Quick learning can be a big advantage in this case. This will help you to get used to and quickly adapt to the various new telework management programmes coming onto the market.
Telecontrol checklist No 5: Reconciliation of professional and private life
If working from home scares you, you can keep working at the office. When you work at home, you don’t just take work home with you, you take the whole office with you.
VPN North recently completed an investigation and found that American workers have worked an average of 3 hours more since the start of the locks. This can be explained by several factors.
However, it is very important that you can find a balance between work and private life in order to be successful in working at a distance. If you’re a workaholic, it can be bad to work from home.
Most people find it difficult to draw clear boundaries for life and work. You should keep this in mind when considering working from home, otherwise you can work 24 hours a day without interruption.
Checklist no. 6 for remote controls: Read and understand your company’s telework policy.
Without a specific telework company policy, you risk biting more than you can chew, and you may never know what to expect on your way to telework.
A reliable telework policy will determine the company’s overall approach and response to telework. It should deal with issues such as working hours, communication, cooperation, virtual meetings, reports, etc.
If your employer has a telework policy, this is a sign that they take telework seriously. You should take the time to read and understand each point before you commit.
Most employers offer a mixed or hybrid model that allows employees to go from work at the office to work at home. In my opinion, this is probably the best way to measure willingness to work remotely.
