So you are in WordPress and you notice that your changes do not appear on your builder’s page or in WordPress itself. There are several reasons why someone might have this problem.

WordPress theme editor changes without display? This may be due to many factors, but the most likely one is caching or a plugin conflict. Caching sometimes causes strange mistakes for people who change pages, so turn it off. Then check your plugins and see if there is a conflict. You should also check with your hosting provider to see if they can help you.

In this article, we look at the details that may prevent your site from being displayed when you make changes. Many people will be disappointed, but many of them are very simple as long as they don’t ask you for help or pay.

Step 1: Clear WordPress Cache

The first, and perhaps most obvious, step in this process is to clear the WordPress cache. A cache is a set of files stored on a static computer so that it can be loaded faster for visitors.

In the caching plugin you use, there should be a space where you can empty your cache. You need to remove it and then completely disable the caching plugin during updates.

Caches tend to break some WordPress page builders and settings, so try it first before trying other steps. If this still doesn’t work, continue reading.

Step 2: Clear Browser Cache

Browsers may sometimes retain old website information that makes your site look the same, even if you change the site itself. If you want to solve this problem somehow, you can do so by clearing your browser’s cache.

Each browser has different instructions for emptying the cache, so you need to read below and find your browser to do this. If your browser is not in the list, search your specific browser and delete your cache, the answer should appear.

Chromium

  1. In the browser bar, type chrome://settings/clearBrowserData
  2. Click on Advanced at the top of the Data Erase window.
  3. Select one of the following:
    • Show the story
    • Download history
    • Cookies and other website data
    • Images and files in the cache The Time Range drop-down menu allows you to select the period of time for which you want to delete the information in the cache. To empty the entire cache, select All Time.
  4. Press the CLEAR DATA button.
  5. Close / close all browser windows and open the browser again.

Firefox

  1. From the History menu, select Clear current history. If the menu bar is hidden, press the Alt key to make it visible.
  2. From the Time Range to Delete drop-down menu, select the desired range; to clear the entire cache, select All.
  3. Click the down arrow next to Details to select the history items you want to clear; to clear the entire cache, select All Items.
  4. Click Delete.
  5. Close / close all browser windows and open the browser again.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Click on the icon of the hub (which looks like a star with three horizontal lines) in the upper right corner.
  2. Click the History icon (which looks like a clock) and then select Clear all history.
  3. Select Browsing history, select Cookies and saved website data, and select Data and file cache. Click, delete.
  4. After that, everything is clear! appears, close/open all browser windows and open the browser again.

Step 3: Turn off your plug-ins

If you are trying to solve a problem, one of the first things most people will tell you is to turn off your plugins. There’s a specific reason why they tell you this, and it’s because plugins cause problems.

Sometimes a plugin may conflict with the page or theme builder and prevent it from working properly. It happens more often than we think.

There are two ways to know which plugin will break your site and prevent you from seeing the changes. One option is to disable all plugins if you think a particular plugin interferes with your theme. You can do this by connecting to your hosting via FTP and renaming the folder with the plugins.

Usually I give the plugin 1 folder another name, and if I want to change it again after the test, I just give it another name. It will not break anything on your site, but it will temporarily disable all your plugins.

If you want to test the plugins individually, you can also go to the WordPress administration section and disable them. Both methods work, the goal is to test them one after the other and see what is causing the problem.

If you are using the Page Builder and it is not updated, do not turn it off. You should disable all plugins, except the Page Builder, and then check for conflicts.

Did they work? If this didn’t happen now, it would lead to more complicated methods of finding out what’s wrong with your website.

Step 4: Modification permits

Sometimes file permissions can cause a lot of problems, and it’s not surprising to think that they can prevent the site itself from being updated. For this solution you don’t need to connect to WordPress, you need to do an internal job. If this doesn’t suit you, ask your webhost for help.

You can connect via your panel or via FTP, both are possible. Once inside, go to your WordPress root folder and see the details in that folder.

Normally you can access this data by right-clicking or by searching for the area where the settings are located. Make sure the folder permissions in the settings are set to chmod 644, which is the most common setting for the folder.

You can try changing it to 644 or 777. Make your changes and then change them. Do not leave this setting on the 777, because hackers can use it.

Ask your hosting company to do some research and let them know what’s going on. Sometimes the hosting companies are very supportive. In other cases, it is best to try to solve the problem yourself before contacting online support to find the solution.

Let them know what you’ve tried on your site and see what they can get out of it. Sometimes the answer is very easy to solve without too much frustration, especially if you have a good hosting company.
