You’ll be starting from scratch:

1. To add text, you must create a new video. Therefore, after opening the application, click on the + button that appears on the home screen. It will automatically switch to the audio and video recording side of the front camera (possible).
2. Press the record button. When you are finished recording the video, press the red check mark button. The recorded video is displayed and played back in a loop while you wait for the edit.
3. To add subtitles, press the Text – Aa button. The cursor starts to blink.
4. Now add your text and edit it as you like. You can center the text, align it left or right, add a color for the text background and change the font.
5. When you are ready to edit the text, click Done. You will return to the output screen.

7. There are two options you can use here:
   1. Determine how long the text (now the subtitle) is displayed. The sticker (as TikTok calls it) must be displayed for at least one second.
   2. Decide where you want it to appear.
8. The bar that appears above x…duration…√ is now your main tool. The bar has a small red zone.
9. The size of the red area determines how long the sticker (subtitle, text) is retained. Use the corners to change the appearance time (7a).
10. By moving the red part along the bar, you determine the specific position where the subtitles will appear (7b).

For example,

1. If the subtitle is linked to a sound included in the video and is 3 seconds long, move a corner until the Selected label lasts 3.0 seconds above the bar.
2. You can now move the bar to the beginning of where you want the subtitle to capture the audio words (or song lyrics). Press, hold and drag the red part. If the subtitle is 10 seconds long, move it so that the left corner says 10.0s.
3. Your subtitle lasts 3 seconds and starts at the 10th position. Second at the end of the 12th minute. second (3 seconds total).
4. Press the √ key to confirm that you are finished. Play the video again to make sure you did everything right. If not, you can go back to the step Define duration (step 5).
