I love my Fire TV Cube, but the one thing I hate about it is the lack of mouse toggle support. This was a big problem when I had a Fire TV Stick, since the only way I could access the mouse and keyboard was with the Fire TV remote, which was not the most comfortable device.
You can use the “Mouse Toggle” app to toggle with mouse control mouse pointer on your Fire TV Stick and Fire TV Cube. This application is available for all Fire Devices and can be installed from Fire TV App Store.
We are pleased to announce the release of Mouse Toggle for FireStick, Fire TV Cube, Fire TV Stick, Fire TV Stick 4K, and Fire TV Cube. Mouse Toggle for Fire TV is a program designed to allow users to control the mouse pointer on the Fire TV remote control with a mouse pointer. Mouse Toggle for Fire TV is an open source program and is available at github.com.
Some Android apps are designed for touch devices and may not work properly on your Fire TV Stick remote. This deprives the FireStick user of some good applications. The main reason why you cannot use these apps is that they are not compatible with the Amazon FireStick remote. However, if there was a way to use the mouse with the FireStick, you could make some of these applications work.
You can get a mouse pointer on the FireStick surface without attaching a physical mouse. All you need is the Mouse Toggle application. In this tutorial we will learn how to install the Mouse Toggle on the FireStick. You can control the mouse pointer with the navigation buttons on the remote control. To click on an object, point to the object and press the Select key on the remote.
Attention FireStick users!
Governments and ISPs are constantly monitoring your online activities, and accessing copyrighted content on your Fire TV Stick can cause serious problems. Your IP is currently visible to everyone. I highly recommend you to buy the best FireStick VPN to hide your IP address and transfer your favorite games safely.
Personally, I use ExpressVPN, the fastest and most secure VPN on the market. Not only is it easy to install on any device, but it also comes with a risk-free 30-day money-back guarantee. And if you are not 100% satisfied, you can always get your money back. ExpressVPN is also currently offering an additional 3 months free for an annual plan!
Here are the reasons why using a VPN is essential at all times.

Mouse switching application for Fire TV Stick Installation Manual
First, we configure our FireStick device to allow the installation of third-party applications. The Mouse Switching application we are about to install is also a third-party application. Perform the following steps:
Step one: The very first thing you need is a page loading application. The FireStick does not allow you to download files directly from a browser. I recommend the download application. This is a very effective recharging tool for the FireStick. Install the downloader on the FireStick and run it. You can easily purchase this application on the Amazon store.
On the FireStick home screen, go to Search > Search and install the Downloader application.
Step two: After installing the Downloader application, go to the FireStick settings from the home screen by clicking on the cog icon on the right side of it.
Step three: Go to My Fire TV and open it in the following screen.
Step four: Now open the development options.
Step 5: Touch Install Unknown Applications.
Also make sure that ADB debugging is enabled. For the Mouse Switching application to work, ADB debugging must be enabled.
Step six: Activate it for the Downloader application, as shown in the following figure.
Your FireStick will now install any third-party application. Let’s start with the mouse button.
Seventh step: Open the Downloader application you installed earlier.
The main screen of the downloader looks like this. As you can see, the Home option on the left is already clicked. On the right hand side, there is a field where you can enter the URL of the source from which the Mouse Button should be downloaded.
Click on this URL field.
Step 8: Enter the following URL (depending on your device) when the on-screen keyboard appears (see image below):
For Fire Stick Gen 1, Fire Stick Gen 2, Fire TV 1, Fire TV 2, Fire TV Cube – https://www.firesticktricks.com/mouse
If you have a FireStick 4K, FireStick Lite or a new FireStick, use this link – http://bit.ly/mousefire.
Message: The APK file is not hosted or distributed by FireStickTricks.com. The above URL leads to mediafire.com where the file is located.
After entering the URL, press GO
Step 9: Allow the Downloader application to download the Mouse Toggle APK file. This may take a few minutes.
Step 10: The advantage of the downloader is that you don’t have to manually run the downloaded APK. It starts the file and automatically starts the installation. You should now see the following prompt.
Press the Install button
Step 13: Click on Delete.
Step 14: Click the Clear button again.
You have successfully removed the APK file from the FireStick.
Accessing and using the Shift function of the mouse on a FireStick
You can see all the applications installed on your FireStick under Your applications and channels. Here’s how you can do it:
- Press and hold the Home button on the FireStick remote control for approximately 5 seconds.
- When the menu screen appears, press Apps
- You are in the section Your applications and channels.
Now scroll down on the remote, where you will find the Mouse Toggle application. Remember that when you install an application, its icon appears at the bottom, under your applications and channels. It is also worth noting that recently installed applications do not appear on the FireStick’s home screen.
To move an application to the Home screen, select its icon under Your applications & channels and press the Menu button on the remote. Now click the Move button and move the symbol to one of the top rows.
I will now show you how to use the mouse button.
Important! !! For the Mouse Switching application to work, ADB debugging must first be enabled. Learn how to activate it here: FireStick Home > Settings > My Fire TV > Developer Options > ADB Debugging
Open the application under your applications and channels. This is what the application looks like. There’s only one screen.
Make sure the Enable mouse service option is enabled. If you want the mouse service to start when the FireStick starts, enable the second option. I recommend not removing them. Mouse Toggle is an application that weighs only 2 MB and its constant operation does not affect the performance of your device.
When the mouse service is enabled, the Started status should read in the lower left corner of the screen.
If the report persists at startup, you may need to disable and re-enable ADB debugging. You can press the ADB SETUP button in the application to turn it off and on.
It’s the interface that counts. I will now show you how to use the mouse pointer in any application.
I use Showbox HD as an example because this application cannot be controlled with the FireStick remote. Here is the Showbox HD startup screen:
As you can see, there is a menu in the top left corner. I can’t reach it without changing my mouse. But there is still no mouse pointer on my TV screen. So how do you make it happen?
To display the mouse pointer, simply press the Play/Pause button twice quickly on the Amazon FireStick remote control.
I did and scrolled down the menu. Now I have to press the Select key on the remote to open the menu.
The following menu is displayed. I can now point and click on any menu item.
I clicked on movies and came to a screen with a list of movies. Again, I can open any movie with the mouse pointer.
Also note that the mouse pointer disappears after a few seconds in sleep mode. Just press the Play/Pause button twice on the remote control to resume playback.
How do I browse pages with the mouse button?
First, display the mouse tumbler cursor by pressing the Play/Pause button twice on the remote control.
Now press the following keys on the remote control in quick succession and in the same order:
- Navigate to the bottom of the page
The cursor becomes larger and faster, and you can scroll through the pages.
Mouse Switching allows you to use applications on the FireStick that are otherwise incompatible. When the mouse pointer appears on the screen, you can move it with the navigation button on the remote control. You can access items in an incompatible application, which is not possible with a normal remote control. Mouse Toggle is a lightweight application, and I think every FireStick user should have it.
