If you cannot launch the Xbox application on your Windows 10 computer, try rebooting your system first. Then check if you can open the application normally. If the answer is no, try one of the solutions below.

What should I do if the Xbox Windows 10 application does not work?

1. Resetting the Xboxapplication folder

  1. Go to Search, type PowerShell and open PowerShell from the results.
  2. Type the following command and press the Enter key :
    • Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $($_.InstallLocation)Axml}.
  3. Waiting for the end of the process

After executing this PowerShell command, try running the Xbox for Windows 10 again. If it still doesn’t work, try the following solution.

2. Starting a licensing service Scenario

  1. Open the notebook
  2. Paste the following text into Notepad: echo offnet stop clipsvcif %1″== ( echo ==== BACKING UP LOCAL LICENSES move %windir%serviceprofileslocalserviceappdatalocalmicrosoftclipsvctokens.dat%windir%serviceprofileslocalserviceappdatalocalmicrosoftclipsvctokens.bin )as %1″==recovery ( echo ==== RECOVERING LICENSES FROM BACKUP copy %windir%serviceprofileslocalserviceappdatalocalmicrosoftclipsvctokens.bak %windir%serviceprofileslocalserviceappdatalocalmicrosoftclipsvctokens.dat )just start clipsvc.
  3. Save the file under .bat license
  4. Run the script from the command line (right-click the Start > Command Prompt (Administrator) button).
  5. The script removes the application, so go to the Windows Store and buy the Xbox application again.

This scenario was introduced in the technical overview of Windows 10 when users encountered problems running certain Windows 10 applications. We haven’t tested if it works on the full version of Windows 10 and with the Xbox application, but you can try it, it can’t hurt.

3. Clear Microsoft Store cache

  1. Press Windows + R to perform.
  2. Type wsreset.exe and press Enter.
  3. After the reset, restart your computer and check that the Windows Store application is active.

The Xbox application depends on the Microsoft Store application. So if something goes wrong with the Store application, many applications will not start or download. In this case, resetting the cache may solve the problem.

Many users have also reported that the Xbox application continues to close on Windows 10. We have an excellent guide to solve this problem.
