Earlier this year we took a look at the new Acer Swift 3 with an AMD processor under the bonnet and even thought about the Ryzen 5, of which you can read the story here. Some time ago AMD sent us a 7mm version of the AMD Ryzen so we could play with it and so to speak you were impressed with our Ryzen 5 U Series, so wait until you try our 7mm Ryzen processor. That’s why we not only made a performance comparison with Ryzen processors, but also with their competitors to show the huge performance leap that Ryzen 7 offers.

To make these comparisons simple and clear, we have based them on the following criteria: Cinebench R20, Blender, PCMARK 10 and 3DMARK. Since we no longer had access to the Ryzen 5 version of Swift 3, we are practically limited to these benchmarks. Before we move on to the equation, let’s talk about the Ryzen 4000 U series processors. They use the TSMC’s 7nm FinFET process to build the processor and it is based on the Zen architecture. The processors in the U-series are now mobile processors that also come with Radeon Graphics.

AMDRyzen 7 4700U versus Ryzen 5 4500U

In this case, two specific processors are involved – AMD Ryzen 5 4500U and Ryzen 4700U. These two processors now have an interesting specification, which you can see below.

Apparently you will notice that the only difference between the processor and the kernel is the number of threads and the clock speed, which is minimal to say the least. But the fact that both processors have the same standard 15W TDP shows how energy efficient these chips are, and even with a 10-25W cTDP range, this is still noticeable. Together with the number of cores and the number of wires, this shows that the process AMD relies on for the 4000 series is more efficient than the 3000 series, which used a 12 nm processor and had fewer cores but more wires.

When we looked at the Ryzen 5 version of Swift 3, we were really surprised by the power of the notebook – especially since it uses 5 processors and always offers better performance with good thermal stability. The Travel 7 4700hrs met our expectations and we expected it to be equal to or slightly better than the 4500hrs, but it exceeded those expectations.

In intensive CPU testing, where we put the two processors together – as with Cinebench R20 – the difference in performance was only a hair’s breadth for a single core, but in multi-core work, where Ryzen 7 scored absolutely better than 5, simply because it had two extra cores and a number of wires to better handle multi-threaded workloads. If we look at the infamous BMW Render Blender, we see an achievement similar to that of Ryzen 7, which ended about a minute earlier than Ryzen 5. If you continue to references that contain both CPUs and GPUs, such as PCMARK 10 and 3DMARK Time Spy, you will see the difference of 981 points in PCMARK 10 Extended and 111 points in Time Spy.

AMD Ryzen 7 4700U versus Intel Core i7-1065G7

We decided to test the test results with Intel’s Core i7 10. We will compare the new generation-1065G7 we found in the ASUS Zenbook 13 that we reviewed some time ago. This is further proof that the Ryzen 7 slam uses the Intel Core i7 processor found in the Zenbook 13 due to the lower number of cores per day, but still has the same number of wires as the Ryzen 7, but relies heavily on the 10nm architecture. The base frequency of the 1065G7 is 1.30 GHz and the maximum is 3.90 GHz.

In terms of stability in everyday use, the AMD Ryzen processor has come a long way in terms of good energy management, memory and performance. Compared to the 3000 series, the 4000U processors seem much more advanced.

All this, while the blue team dominates the entire workspace and mobility, AMD Ryzen has finally overtaken and even surpassed its impressive offering and performance; at a price that even conquered a growing market share in mobile and desktop chips during this pandemic. In this case, the AMD Ryzen 4700U is not only the workhorse of the processor in a small car, but it also brings some new features that come in handy for your wallet and will make the dollar ring.

Here we present the AMD Ryzen 7 4700U with a gold price as the most advanced mobile processor compared to the Ryzen 7 3700U.  Special thanks to AMD Malaysia for sending the Acer Swift 3 for this report.
